Scaffolding Lambeth

Engineered Scaffolding Solutions Across the London Borough of Lambeth

A Star London Scaffolding recently completed a technically demanding six-lift scaffolding project within the London Borough of Lambeth, providing full access for external renovation and roofing works on a multi-storey commercial property.
This project highlights our ability to deliver engineered scaffolding solutions that prioritise safety, functionality, and compliance in busy public environments.

Engineered Design and Drawing Approval

The scaffolding was erected in full accordance with engineers’ drawings specifically produced for the site. The detailed design included multiple elevations, lift heights, braced bays, and gantry load points to ensure accuracy and stability throughout.
Before commencement, the drawing was reviewed and approved by the principal contractor and verified for structural safety.

A site-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) was prepared, addressing the confined site layout, public access, and working-at-height risks. All scaffolding works were carried out by CISRS-qualified scaffolders, ensuring full compliance with TG20:21 and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.

Public Protection and Pedestrian Safety

To maintain safe pedestrian access around the site, the design incorporated a scaffolding fan system along the street elevation and a steel-beam-supported gantry at the base.
This gantry created a secure walkway beneath the scaffold, allowing the public to pass safely while renovation works took place above. The solution combined robust engineering and practical site management, ensuring the project was both safe and efficient.

Six Working Lifts Built to Specification

The scaffold consisted of six fully boarded working lifts, providing reliable access for all phases of the external works.
Lift heights and bay spacing were installed as per the approved drawing, with full bracing, ladder access, and working platforms designed to meet the load class and stability requirements set out in TG20:21.
Regular inspections were completed by our supervisors to confirm ongoing compliance and safety performance.

Council Licence and Compliance

As the scaffold extended partially over the public footpath, a scaffolding licence was obtained from the Borough of Lambeth prior to the erection stage.
Our team handled the full permit process, ensuring the structure met all local authority guidelines for public safety and access clearance.
This proactive approach ensured seamless approval and uninterrupted project progress.

Safe and Efficient Delivery in a Confined Urban Setting

Operating within a busy Lambeth street, our team coordinated daily logistics, materials, and access routes to minimise disruption to the public and neighbouring buildings.
The project was completed on schedule, fully inspected, and handed over in excellent condition, demonstrating A Star London Scaffolding’s commitment to precision, safety, and professionalism on every site.
